Pair of OTIS Gen2 MRL traction elevators from 2014 at a nice little apartment tower in downtown. These are some very basic Gen2s.
This building was actually built by some far off relatives of my family, which I didn't know until a relative that lives here told me. Seems like our connection to Otis keeps on...

It's a small building, only has these two elevators. Usual setup of one for passengers only and another for passengers and service, both identical.
Cabs are small, usual size for smaller residential buildings. Interiors are the default most basic design that was used with the model at the time. Not much to them, plain, simple and looks like any other of these around which are common are already. They only have that carpet on the floor, which was a pain to have to edit out as it had the building's name on it.
Fixtures are also very basic, the default Solution that was used for this version of the Gen2 at the time. Uses the basic slab wall-mount COP. Not much to them except for two slightly unusual details. First the call stations, normally these types of Gen2s have one at each side door sill of each car, even if they're duplex, it's easier for mounting and access. But here they went with single call station on the middle between the two cars, mounted on the concrete wall itself, and overhead hall indicators, like how its normally done on commercial installations. That is unusual not only for this model and fixture line, but for residentials in general. Probably was planned like that by the construction company beforehand. The other thing is the floor passing beep which isn't all that, but since very few elevators over here actually have that feature at all or leave it on when they do, it counts. Default simple beep of the Solution. Actually a lot of Solutions I've filmed in this specific city have the FP beep enabled, more than I've seen in other places, so it probably is a preference of the local Otis crew, who knows. Also interestingly, while these are still new elevators, they don't have IR bar door sensors, only the more simple electric eye/photocell sensor, that little "dot" on the cab door sill. Like the budget models with Progressive Line cabs, from the late 90s and early 2000s... this feature lasted well into the late Solution years but then as an optional only on very basic installs and certain applications with lower traffic. It isn't much less safe than the IR bars but, always better to have the latter.
The cab and fixtures are in great shape, these elevators still look practically new, property as a whole is well mantained and kept for.

Performance is decent, it's the same as almost any of these. Run pretty well, speed is fast for the distance served, good efficiency when starting and leveling. They do shake and bounce quite a lot when traveling, not too strong but definitely noticeable. Mostly due to how light these are, build is thin and rather flimsy... one of the weak points of the model, literally and figuratively. The doors on the second car are a bit out of alignment and bumping a lot when closing and opening, making noise as well. Quiet operation for the rest, Gen2s are silent by nature and it's no different on these. A few shaft noises and creaks in the cab only, typical with them, and the VF drive sound at the top of the shaft. These do have one little noise that I've seen in a few other Gen2s, that little "whraow" on the motor as it finishes leveling and stops. Always wondered what that might be, and why only some Gen2s have it.
Maintenance by Otis since installation. Reportedly good service done on these.

Rating: 8/10 - Very simple, basic of the basic Gen2s from the 2010s, but nice to see. Has a few different features not usually seen with these on this type of installation, so these are a little more interesting. Cabs and fixtures still look like new, very well kept. Performance is good too, run pretty nicely, fast and efficient, mostly comfortable save for the bouncing and shaking while traveling, typical with these. Overall, quite nice, were a bit more interesting to see than most of these.
