BatsNest Trail - Twp Rd 202 in Knox County Ohio Overview and ride Video

This video was taken on a ride up and back down on the Bats Nest, unmaintained county road 202 in Knox County, Ohio. By chance, I helped recover a stuck Ford Ranger that could not climb out of the drop-in at the top of the trail, and he got stuck turning around above the rock shelf obstacle.

My rig is a Jeep Gladiator with stock 33" tires and 2.5 stock lift. The date of this ride was 12/13/2024. The ground conditions were great, after two days below freezing, the ground was hard, and the mud holes only had a thin ice layer.

Trail Overview:
Bats Nest Road is a non-maintained road with several large mud holes and rutted sections. This route can be used as a connector to Stone Quarry Road. There are bypasses around the two largest mud holes. One bypass is a really tight fit through several trees. Make sure you have a winch and recovery gear if attempting the mud holes; they are deep.

Difficulty:
Two deep mud holes and a few rutted sections. Good tires (min 33s), ground clearance, winch, and recovery gear are recommended.
