1982 Lotus Type 91 at Imola Circuit - 480 hp 3.0-Litre Cosworth DFV V8 Engine Start-Up & Sound

It was a great pleasure to have the opportunity to see live and film a fantastic Lotus Type 91 from the Formula 1 1982 season. We are at the Imola circuit's 2023 edition of the Historic Minardi Day. I'm not sure, but having the number 12, this example must be driven by Nigel Mansell/Roberto Moreno/Geoff Lees. De Angelis' car had the number 11. Designed by Colin Chapman, Martin Ogilvie and Tony Rudd, it featured carbon brakes and a monocoque chassis made of carbon fibre and Kevlar. Like some competing teams, the car was not yet equipped with the more powerful Turbo engines. However, we find the proven 3.0-litre naturally aspirated Cosworth DFV V8 engine capable of developing 480 hp (357.9 kW) at 11,000 rpm driven by a 5-speed Lotus-Hewland manual gearbox. The car proved quite competitive, finishing the 1982 constructors' championship in fourth place. We remember the victory of the driver Elio De Angelis at the Austrian Grand Prix, who, right at the finish line, in the sprint, crossed the finish line first ahead of the future world champion Keke Rosberg. Con grande piacere ho avuto l'occasione di vedere dal vivo e filmare una fantastica Lotus Type 91 di Formula 1, stagione 1982. Ci troviamo all'edizione 2023 dell'Historic Minardi Day sul circuito di Imola. Non ho l'assoluta certezza, ma avendo il numero 12, questo esemplare deve essere uno di quelli guidati da Nigel Mansell/Roberto Moreno/Geoff Lees. L'auto di De Angelis aveva il numero 11. Disegnata da Colin Chapman, Martin Ogilvie e Tony Rudd montava freni in carbonio ed un telaio composto monoscocca in fibra di carbonio e kevlar. L'auto non era ancora dotata dei più potenti motori Turbo come alcuni team concorrenti. Troviamo però il collaudato propulsore Cosworth DFV V8 da 3.0-Litri aspirato capace di sviluppare 480 hp (357.9 kW) a 11,000 giri/min mosso da un cambio manuale Lotus-Hewland a 5 marce. La vettura si rivelò abbastanza competitiva chiudendo il mondiale costruttori del 1982 al quarto posto. Ricordiamo la vittoria del pilota Elio De Angelis al gran premio dell'Austria che proprio sul traguardo, in volata, tagliò per primo il traguardo davanti al futuro campione del mondo Keke Rosberg.
