The Dons were coached by Jimmy Phelan and paced offensively by QB Glenn Dobbs who passed for 2,400 yards in 1948. RB Herm Wedemeyer and DE Len Ford were two of the stars for the Dons. Buck Shaw coached the Niners to a 12-2 record in 1948 with Frankie Albert quarterbacking them with 2,000 yards and 29 TD passes for the season.
