Here's another Filipino bakery favorite you can make! Pan de Bonete is a small, hat-shaped bread roll with a soft and airy crumb and a golden, buttery top. It's delicious with coffee or tea for breakfast, merienda, or any time of the day.

How to make Pan de Bonete
✅Ingredients:
2 ¼ teaspoon active dry yeast
¼ cup warm water (105-115°F)
½ cup sugar, less 1 teaspoon for proofing
2 eggs
½ cup warm milk
¼ cup melted butter
1 teaspoon salt
3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
Beaten egg for brushing
✅Instructions:
In a bowl, add active dry yeast, warm water, and 1 teaspoon sugar. Stir to combine and let it sit for about 5 minutes or until frothy.
Add eggs, warm milk, sugar, melted butter, and salt. Stir everything together. Gradually add all-purpose flour, stirring well as you add. Combine everything until it forms a shaggy dough. If the dough is still too wet, add ¼ cup of flour and stir until the dough gathers in the center of the bowl.
Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, and do the windowpane test. Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a bowl. Allow to rise for about 1 to 1 ½ hours.
Gently punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a smooth ball and place on a greased 12-cavity muffin pan. Do the same with the remaining portions. Cover and allow to rise for about 40 minutes to 1 hour.
Brush the tops of the bonete with beaten egg and bake in a preheated 350°F (180°C) oven for about 15 minutes. Remove from the oven. Serve and enjoy!
