This video presentation is about the concept of the golden thread and the need for methodological fit in research.
It shows how the research question, prior research, research design (strategy, data collection and analysis) need to fit with, and be answered within, broader assumptions.
This results in a golden thread in which these outer layers of the research onion (philosophy, approaches to theory development and the methodological choices) fit with the chosen research strategy, time horizon and data collection procedures and analysis techniques.
The concept of methodological fit is explained and related to the research onion plotting a golden thread across the layers, illustrating both golden and broken threads.
