Leningrad Skyline by En Svensk Tiger is a Swedish punk song from 2009 about the fall of the Soviet Union and the "wild nineties" in Russia. It has become a classic in modern Swedish punk and is also part of the music in The Fire Rises, a popular mod for the strategy game Hearts of Iron 4.
The 90s in Russia, right after the collapse of the Soviet Union, was a time when quality of life for normal people dropped while some grifters and oligarchs became rich. The song criticizes these New Russians who took advantage of Russia's chaotic transition to capitalism, often in criminal ways.
On this channel I translate Swedish socialist and communist music, most of it from the 1970s although some songs are more modern. That includes anti-capitalist songs, Vietnam songs and worker songs. Subscribe to support the channel and to make sure you don't miss any upcoming videos!
