SEL has always been regarded as an important factor in fostering students’ life skills, overall well-being, and school engagement (Adelman & Taylor, 2000) as well as their academic achievement (Durlak, Weissberg, Dymnicki & Taylor, Schellinger, 2011), and use of language for L2 English learners (Doyle & Bramwell, 2006). In this video, Dr. Yağmur Ersoy explains how SEL improves students’ attitudes, skills, and behaviors such as empathy, respect, cooperation, regulating emotions, self-control, goal setting, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. She also gives some examples.
