Garden City KS → Elberta UT | Trucking the Great Plains to the Rockies

Today’s run starts with a deadhead from Dumas, TX to Garden City, KS, where we pick up a load of powdered milk replacement bound for Elberta, Utah. Delivery is scheduled for 8/21/25.

We’ll cover some incredible ground across the Great Plains, the Rockies, and into Utah. Here’s a look at the journey:

🛣 Route Overview
• US-87 – Leaving Dumas, TX and cutting through wide stretches of farmland into the Oklahoma Panhandle.
• US-54 → US-83 – Into Kansas, rolling past Liberal, KS (home to Dorothy’s House from The Wizard of Oz) and up to Garden City, where we load.
• I-70 – Crossing Colorado, with sights like Burlington’s vintage carousel and the long stretch through the Eastern Plains before Denver comes into view.
• Denver, CO – Skirting the Mile-High City with its Rocky Mountain backdrop. Denver is a hub for western freight traffic and sits exactly one mile above sea level.
• US-6 – Climbing into the Rocky Mountains. Expect dramatic scenery through Glenwood Canyon, one of the most beautiful stretches of highway in the country, carved alongside the Colorado River.
• I-15 – Dropping south through Provo, UT, a city known for Brigham Young University and its scenic backdrop of the Wasatch Range.
• US-6 – Finishing the run west into Elberta, UT, a small town surrounded by mountains and farmland.

This route covers high plains, mountain passes, and western desert landscapes, showing just how diverse trucking across the U.S. can be.
