It's National Reconciliation Week in Australia.
But despite a national focus on promoting stronger relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, Mililma May says the concept "always has, and always will be redundant".
"Reconciliation requires there to be an even playing field and that two people can find a middle ground," the young Indigenous activist said.
"The reality is that the ground is uneven and we need regeneration, we need revolution and we need deep love – rather than reconciliation."
With young First Nations people the focus of much debate around social issues in the Northern Territory, the ABC has interviewed young NT leaders about their attitudes towards reconciliation.
The Danggalaba and Kulumbirigin woman has spent her youth working with children inside the NT's notorious Don Dale youth detention centre and leading protests against developments in Darwin under the mentorship of her aunties and elders.
She's now running as an independent for election to the NT's parliament in August.
