Making a Stylized Music Video for AWOLNATION | Blender Production Tips with Jason Michael Hall

Join us as we welcome Jason Michael Hall to the Gnomon Stage for a behind-the-scenes look at how he created some of the stylized visuals from Awolnation’s “Beds are Burning” music video (produced and directed by Jason and Gingerbear Haus Studio)! After Awolnation released an album of cover songs last year, Jason led the charge in creating an animated version of lead singer Aaron Bruno dancing in a synthwave-retro-Miami-style video created primarily in Blender.

Through a live demo, Jason will share the texturing process and toon shaders for this style and how to implement and modify motion capture data in Blender. He will also talk about creating interesting graphic visuals using simple tools like primitives, modifiers and UVs and some of the Eevee’s native Light Probe effects.

If you’re interested in learning about how Blender can be used with external tools like Reallusion’s Character Creator, ZBrush, and the Rokoko Motion Capture suit (or if you’re an artist trapped in a rocker’s body), you won’t want to miss this demo!
