The Dagin procession is conducted in honor of the goddess Dagin, symbolizing the journey of Lord Indra’s mother as she roams the city in search of her son. Accompanying the procession is a man donned in a mask, along with a band providing musical accompaniment. The event commences from the south-western corner of Maru Square and proceeds past the western side of Kasthamandap.
The procession honoring the goddess Dāgin (दागिं), also known as Dāgim, reenacts the journey of Indra's mother as she searches for her son. This event features a man in a mask, accompanied by a musical ensemble. It commences after the chariot of Kumari returns to Basantapur following its travels through the southern part of the town. Dāgin is trailed by numerous individuals who have experienced the loss of a family member during that particular year.
The procession initiates from an alley located at the south-western corner of Maru square and proceeds along the western side of Kasthamandap. Participants adhere to the festival route heading north to Asan before making their way back to Durbar Square. The procession advances to the southern end of the town before returning to Maru.[8]
