The availability of AWIPS in the cloud provides new opportunities for bringing the community together to collaborate on how satellite data can be used to enhance the NWS mission. The TOWR-S team is supporting the GOES-R Program and the NWS Office of Observations in a series of “cloudReach Reviews” with small groups of forecasters, techniques development meteorologists, remote sensing scientists, and algorithm developers from across the NWS and NESDIS. This presentation will describe some of the current and planned activities of this cloudReach initiative.
About the Presenters: Lee Byerle joined the TOWR-S team in 2015, where he supports the GOES-R program and NWS Office of Observations. He also assists the AWIPS Program Office in the National Centers AWIPS transition project. Prior to joining TOWR-S, he supported the USGS Land Remote Sensing Program in an Earth observation requirements initiative from 2013 to 2015. Lee also served in the U.S. Air Force as a weather officer for 20 years.
