The concert was held at the Riviera Theater in Chicago, originally part of a live FM broadcast across the United States to most alternative rock stations of the time, to promote Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness which was released the following day. A power failure occurred during the beginning of "Zero", the third song played, forcing the band to stop. After a brief delay, the band retook the stage and restarted the song, continuing into the rest of the set. The encore featured three Cheap Trick songs performed with the band, who were also the show's supporting act.
