It’s hard to imagine a time when Rockstar Games didn’t have a negative reputation with their fanbase. They’ve been criticized for milking and re-releasing GTA V for the last decade and for filling GTA Online with predatory microtransactions. The broken release of the GTA Trilogy Defective Edition, where they put a studio responsible for mobile ports of games to work on it, was yet another blemish.

And even the smooth release of the Red Dead Redemption remaster wasn’t without issue. It was criticized for a lack of graphical updates, locked framerate, no PC version, no multiplayer and for charging $50 for what amounted to a port. Though the PS4 version was eventually updated to run at 60 FPS if played on PS5.
