Nicolas Kotzen (Columbia) put on a serving clinic in this match. Despite not having as big of a serve as his opponent, DK Suresh (Wake Forest), Kotzen used clever spin, accurate placement, and a high first serve percentage to make sure he never fell behind in the match. He then took advantage of the break points he got, and a few double faults from DK, to get the upset and keep the dual match close. Though Wake Forest would ultimately advance to the semifinals of the NCAA Championships.
