In this lecture, Professor Peter Waldron (University of East Anglia) explores the events leading up to the 1905 Revolution in Russia, thinking in particular about: (i) the disastrous Russo-Japanese War (1904-05); (ii) the popular uprisings that erupted across the Russian Empire; and (ii) the so-called October Manifesto from Nicholas II.
