Gauri Mehra’s (Interior Architecture and Design, Batch 2021–2025) project, Setu, is an intergenerational spatial design proposal set within the Ramana Maharishi Ashram in Delhi.
Rooted in biophilic design, sensory zoning, and contextual materiality, the project reimagines community spaces as connective third places that encourage emotional and physical bonding across age groups. The project was mentored by Rashim Mahajan (Associate Professor, Interior Architecture & Design -IIAD).
With features like reading nooks, a multifunctional hall, and transitional thresholds, Setu creates a spatial experience that is both grounding and inclusive. By centering empathy, warmth, and intention, the design fosters shared moments and gentle care, bridging generational divides in a culturally and contextually sensitive way.
