Back when they were looking to start production on Halloween 7 (which became Halloween: H20) they brought back the guy who did the special effects make-up as well as made the masks for Part 6, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, Mr. John Carl Buechler. The footage featured here is test footage John and his team shot to send to the filmmakers to help make a decision on the look of the mask in Part 7. Ultimately they decided to go with the same design used in Part 6 with a slightly longer neck. This mask was used in the scene at Nurse Marion Chambers-Whittington's home where she gets her throat cut. Word is director Steve Miner wasn't happy with how the mask looked in dailies and replaced Buechler with KNB FX group who had made the mask for Part 5. He asked them to make a mask that was "featureless". The rest of the film was shot with this version of the mask but then ultimately replaced in close-ups with another version made by Stan Winston Studios.
