Sonic the Hedgehog 4 iOS Longplay (All Episodes)

Here is my complete longplay of "Sonic the Hedgehog 4." In this live, I go through all of the entries in this episodic series (Episode I, II, and Metal), collecting all seven Chaos Emeralds and getting the Good Ending in each game.

To celebrate the second anniversary of this channel and also for reaching an 800-subscriber milestone (almost at 1K yessir), I wanted to try out an unorthodox video concept for my channel. I decided to compile gameplay from all the Sonic 4 games on iPhone and edit them together into one video, to see how much better this series could have been if it were all just one cohesive mobile title, as originally intended. I included the in-game cutscenes for a smooth transition, as well as the unused Episode III teaser as a little Easter egg at the end. This video was a daunting task to complete and rightfully earns the title of my longest and most ambitious project yet, taking over three months in total to play each game, edit, and finalize the video. It was a lot of work, but seeing everything seamlessly come together was totally worth it.

The "Sonic the Hedgehog 4" series comprises three episodes: Episode I, released in 2010; Episode II, released in 2012; and the bonus add-on, Episode Metal, also released in 2012. Episode I brought Sonic back to 2D platforming but was criticized for its awkward controls and repetitive level design. Episode II refined the gameplay by introducing Tails as a playable character, allowing for cooperative mechanics and smoother controls, which earned a more positive reception. Episode Metal offered a short bonus campaign where players control Metal Sonic, tying together the events of Episodes I and II. Although the series aimed to recapture the classic 2D Sonic formula, it ended on a somewhat anticlimactic note, as Episode III was never released, leaving fans with an unfinished story.
