The VA has not officially released the exact VA disability rates for 2026 or the COLA increase. However, based on current projections and past trends, the COLA increase for 2026 is expected to be around 2.3%-2.7%. The official figure will be determined by the Social Security Administration (SSA) in mid-October 2025, after reviewing inflation data from the third quarter. This COLA increase will then be applied to VA disability compensation rates, effective December 1, 2025, and payable beginning January 1, 2026

The 2026 Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) is currently projected at 2.5%, based on recent inflation data.
But keep in mind—this is only a forecast.
The official 2026 COLA won’t be finalized until mid-October 2025, when the Social Security Administration (SSA) reviews third-quarter inflation numbers from July through September.
If inflation cools, the final increase could dip slightly below projections.
If inflation rises—potentially driven by new tariffs or supply chain disruptions—the final COLA could edge higher.
As it stands, veterans can plan for a COLA increase between 2.3% and 2.7%, depending on how inflation trends unfold in the coming months.
