At the conclusion of my recent visit to the UK, my family and I headed to London St Pancras International train station and boarded a high-speed Eurostar train to Paris Gare du Nord. After a day touring the French capital, we headed to the Disneyland Paris Resort. The Walt Disney Studios park would be closing early that day to host a red-carpet premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, so we began there and didn't enter the main Disneyland Park until the afternoon. Imagine my surprise when I found out that the Disneyland Railroad stops running at 5pm! Probably for the best - without trains to distract me I was free to enjoy the many amazing attractions of the park; including the unique dragon lair beneath the castle, the best versions of Big Thunder and Space Mountains, and the phenomenal Phantom Manor. I returned early the next morning to see the trains in the 1.5 hours between park open and my TGV INOUI train from the resort to Charles de Gaulle Airport. The weather had turned wet and I didn't have time to do as much filming as I would've liked, but I still think I got a decent video out of it and I had a great time exploring Disney's European parks.
Featured in this video are 3ft gauge 4-4-0s no. 1 'W.F. Cody' and no. 3 'G. Washington.' Both are replicas of the original Disneyland Railroad's no. 1 'C.K. Holliday,' built by the Hugh Phillips Company in Tredegar, Wales for the opening of the resort in 1992. The railroad's fleet also includes no. 2 'C.K. Holliday,' confusingly named and designed to resemble the 'E. P. Ripley' from the California park, and the no. 4 'Eureka' which was built by Severn Lamb in England a few years after the others. American-styled engines built in Britain for use in France - this must surely be one of the most international theme park railways!
