Inspired by the Canadian Winter and the Aviator or Trapper style hats WW1 pilots wore to protect their head and ears from frost bite in open cockpits, our Winter Canada Cap features the extended long cosy earflaps to insulate your ears and the sides of your face while allowing for the visor to be worn turned up or down to help protect your eyeglasses and forehead from cold and wet weather too!

This style of hat has spent decades never going out of fashion! A timeless classic that is sometimes called an Aviator Hat, or a Winter Trapper Hat, or a Bomber Hat, or a Lumberjack Hat, or a Trooper Hat or a Ushanka Hat.

In this video we use polar fleece and sherpa fleece fabric to create our own version of this style and we call it our Winter Canada Cap. A warm and cosy design with a working visor created to help we Canadians get out and enjoy even the frostiest of our winter weather. Our special climate makes us pretty great at coming up with warm clothing designs and if you live in a cold climate or feel you need some extra warmth in cold seasons, this hat is for you!

Truly a unisex design, this hat will also be a game changer for the early morning winter dog walkers, the snowshoers, cross country skiers, clearing snow, yard duty teachers, waiting for public transport, etc etc etc.

This hat can be made in most fabrics. We recommend that you at least line it with comfortable warm polar fleece. We have used fleece and sherpa fleece for this tutorial and that is how it is sold in our ongoing hat business. Mad Cap Hats has been in business for over 36 years.
