By the 19th century, the village was almost completely abandoned, leaving behind ruins that continue to attract visitors from around the world.

The main landmarks of Oppède Le Vieux are its castle and the Notre-Dame-d'Alidon church, which overlooks the village. While the castle remains in ruins, the church has been partially restored and is open to visitors. From this vantage point, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the surrounding valleys, vineyards, and olive groves. Walking through the village, you can feel the spirit of bygone eras – old, abandoned houses, ivy-covered walls, and silent, narrow streets create an atmosphere of tranquility and reflection.
