Some of the biggest names in XC have been winning races on narrow 50mm gravel tyres instead of traditional XC tyres, but does it really work? James puts the theory to the test with a head-to-head lap comparison between a 2.4” Vittoria Mezcal XC tyre and a 50mm Vittoria Terreno gravel tyre. Will the lighter, narrower option prove faster, or does volume and grip still win out?
