Wheat Harvest Action on a Yorketown Farm!

Something a bit different for tonight’s video; fairly light on trucks, but plenty of agricultural machinery, featuring some wheat harvest action up close on Temana Farm, near Yorketown on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia.

Starting off with a full Kenworth T909 heading out of a dusty paddock, while a New Holland tractor’s trailer is being filled from an auger, I then travel along with a friend in a Ford Ranger shifting small silos from that paddock to another down the road, where a Volvo prime mover with two tipper trailers turns to line up next to a auger being fed by a John Deere 7210R tractor with a grain cart, with more augers and silos spread around the area, ready for the grain being harvested.

Another New Holland tractor with dual tires all round chases the John Deere X9 as it steadily works its way back and forth, while the Volvo’s second trailer is filled, and two Ford Rangers bring in more silos, with the New Holland tractor returning frequently to fill them with freshly harvested wheat.

After tracking alongside for a little while in a Ranger, just past the 20 minute mark I jump into the new John Deere X9 1000 header with farm owner and operator Richard Dodd, chatting about the machinery and the new technology while it works its way through a few rows of the wheat crop, with the New Holland T8 tractor and grain cart by its side to catch the grain.

After an enjoyable ride and informative conversation, it was time for me to head off again to catch some late afternoon action at Port Giles.
