A clip from episode 02 of the Mapping Minds podcast featuring Erica Siegal of MAPS (the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies). Everyone is excited about MDMA therapy, but few realize how complex good psychedelic research is. Erica explains some of these challenges:
"That's why it's very complicated. Obviously, there are only so many study sites and you have to live within a certain radius of that study site to be able to make it to these appointments. And then also have a support person who can drive you to and from these medicine sessions. If you, for example, are a military veteran with PTSD living in San Diego and Los Angeles is the closest site, driving two and a half hours isn't going to be feasible and it's not going to be successful... It's not so much about whether you would qualify; it's about time and circumstance and set and setting."
