Truth Wanted 09.02 with Eli Slack and Tracy Wilbert (

In today’s episode of Truth Wanted, Eli Slack and Tracy Wilbert work through some scenarios with a caller before diving into a discussion about the ethics of eating humans vs. animals. How bad would things need to be before you needed to get your caloric needs from human flesh and why is this different from getting the needs from other animals?

Michelle in NY asks if we can build a better society without god and discusses the different types of deconstruction that we go through. Tracy compares this to driving a car without the boot on it, and Eli mentions dogma being a hindrance. How would the ancient practice of animism evolve without god? Would it be necessary for an ape to think they are god to invent spirits? How would this ape explain that god is powerful enough to create a society but not powerful enough to control it? The caller does not hold a belief in the existence of god as the discussion morphs into how the caller is intentionally demonstrating how she is a contradiction. How can one be an unmovable object and an unstoppable force?
