I (26F) have been a stripper for five years. It’s how I pay my bills, I’m good at it, I’m not ashamed of it, and literally everyone in my friend group has known since day one. We joke about it constantly — club stories are regular dinner-table entertainment.

Two weeks ago my best friend brought a new guy (“Jake,” 29M) she’s been dating for a month to our usual Saturday night hangout (about 10 of us total). Everyone was drinking, stories were flying, and someone asked me how my week was.

I gave my standard chaotic recap:
“Made $2k in one night but got glitter in places glitter should never go”
Told the story about the bachelor who cried during a lap dance
Mentioned the creepy regular who got banned for trying to lick my ankle

Normal stuff for our group — everyone was laughing, adding their own stories. Jake, however, went dead silent, turned bright red, and spent the rest of the night barely speaking to me. Later he told my friend it made him “really uncomfortable,” that he thinks stripping is “degrading,” and he doesn’t know how to be around me now without picturing me naked.

My friend is now pissed at ME. She says I should’ve “read the room,” kept it PG since it was his first time with the group, and that I basically traumatized her new boyfriend and made her look bad for dating someone whose friends are “like that.”

The rest of the group thinks she’s overreacting and that if Jake can’t handle basic facts about my legal, consensual job, that’s on him.
