The Legend of Zelda Theory: The Hero of the Flood

Many years after the banishment of the King of Evil, the seal keeping him locked in the Sacred Realm began to weaken. Darkness once again crept forth from the depths of the earth. It is said that, despite the desperate prayers of the people, the legendary Hero of Time did not appear. Is this really the case though? Or did history simply not record the failed attempts of an unrelated hero?
