The Ruy Lopez is an incredibly popular opening at all levels of chess, from the amateur player up to top level grandmasters. It is considered as one of the best openings for white after the moves 1.e4 e5.
In this video, IM Andrey Ostrovskiy is covering the Noah's Ark Trap in the Ruy Lopez. This trap arises out of the Modern Steinitz Defense after the moves:
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 d6 5. d4 b5 6. Bb3 Nxd4 7. Nxd4 exd4
If white captures on d4 with 8.Qxd4, white will lose a minor piece after a couple of moves.
