What is the correct way to start a car?
Step-by-Step Starting Process
Turn the key to the ACC position to use features like the radio without starting the car.
To start the car, turn the key to the ON position first.
Then briefly turn it to the START position so it cranks.
Keep cranking only until the engine fires up, or a maximum of ten seconds.
