My Mercedes ML 4.0 V8 From 2003 Showcase

Hello, this is the Mercedes-Benz M-Class (W163) manufactured in 2003. The car belongs to the Large SUV crossover car segment.

The car was produced in the years 1997 - 2005. In 2001, the car underwent a facelift.

Is it still worth buying a used Mercedes ML W163 today? It's definitely worth it, but you should pay attention to the condition of the body and the mileage.
Although there are minor spots of corrosion, the bodywork is very well made and is based on solutions from the previous era.
It has a frame structure that ensures its durability.

However, the 4.0 CDI diesel engine, although well-made, has problems with the noisy timing chain and injectors. It can be replaced, but it is quite expensive, but I think it is worth investing in it and enjoying many years of trouble-free driving.
Used units can be purchased today for between $2,000 and $3,000. For this kind of money we will get a luxury that would normally cost $100,000.

We can achieve average fuel consumption of 11.0 liters (21 mpg US), and we can pour a maximum of 70 liters into the fuel tank.
The ML 400 CDI accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds and the maximum speed is 220 km/h or 140 mph.

The front braking system is equipped with ventilated discs, the rear one with non-ventilated discs.
The front suspension is double wishbone, torsion bars, stabilizer bar, and the rear is double wishbone, coil springs and stabilizer bar.

It is quite a heavy car, even armored and high, which makes it safe in the event of a collision, its net weight is as much as 2,330 kg.

An interesting fact is that in 2002, on the basis of W163, an armored "Popemobile" was built for Pope John Paul II, which later also served the next Pope Benedict XVI.
Another interesting fact are the jokes about it: ML W163 is so durable that it even fought dinosaurs! He's not that old, but it's the most holy truth! It's a pity that only in the movie... This model appeared in the cult hit about dinosaurs "Jurassic Park"
