Observations of KiwiRail locomotives in the city of Hamilton, recorded over two hours on Friday the 21st of November. Highlights of the day included DFB 7295 on Te Huia passenger train duties, DCs 4260 and 4761 on the M90 shunt to Te Awamutu and DSJ 4032 dead-in-tow on the return run.
DC 4761 is a noteworthy locomotive because - for the longest time - she was based in the South Island, and transferred north in the weeks leading up to the retirement of Aratere (Interislander’s only rail ferry).
