SAE AutoDrive Challenge™ II Year 4, sponsored by SAE International and General Motors, brings together 10 university teams to engineer Level 4 autonomous vehicles using fully electric GM platforms and advanced sensor systems. This year’s competition took place at the MCity Proving Grounds in Michigan, where students tackled real-world challenges like localization without GPS, rideshare operations, and complex urban navigation.
From the Localization and 99% Challenges to taxi-style autonomous services, these teams pushed the boundaries of what’s possible—while gaining hands-on experience with the tools and tech that will shape tomorrow’s transportation.
