The Bus Boycotts of the late 50’s led to a fight in the Supreme Court that ended with the abolishing of segregation laws on Alabama buses. You may think Rosa Parks' name was on that lawsuit, but it wasn't Claudette Colvin's was. She was a 15-year-old in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1955 who was arrested when she refused to give up her seat to a white woman on a bus (about nine months before Rosa Parks made headlines) and who only had her arrest expunged in 2021. I went to Montgomery for Matter of Fact with Soledad O'Brient to learn more about Colvin's quest and her important place in history.
