This is my Top 10 Animals Who Can Defend Themselves from Predators CAUGHT ON CAMERA
Most animals living on earth are hunted by predators. That’s why most species have evolved one or more defense mechanisms, which help to protect them from dangerous animals. These defense mechanisms differ from one animal to the next, and many of them are very interesting.
There are several ways animals avoid falling prey to a predator. One way is very direct and comes naturally. Imagine you are a rabbit and you have just noticed a fox preparing to attack. What would be your initial response? Right, you'd run. Animals can use speed as a very effective means of escaping predators. Remember, you can't eat what you can't catch! We will talk about some of the most fascinating defenses animals use below.
0:00 INTRO
0:56 ZEBRA VS LION
it a lion against a zebra in the wild and we know who we'd think would come out the winner! But the lion in this fight found himself a pretty feisty opponent when he picked a battle with this zebra!
1:49 LIZARD THAT SHOOTS BLOOD FROM ITS EYES
The Texas Horned Lizard is a scary-looking creature. Brown, plump and perfectly camouflaged in its native sandy environment, its first line of defense is its spiky demeanor.
2:40 LIONS VS GIRAFFE
The lions discovered a lone giraffe grazing near a dry riverbed in the Namib Rand Desert and began stalking it. The giraffe runs for its life—right into the path of a waiting lioness ready to take it down.
3:16 FISH THAT SLIMES ITS ENEMIES
Hagfish are eel-shaped marine animals with the incredibly useful ability to slime their enemies. When threatened, the hagfish emit a slime from their pores that, when mixed with water, expands into a gelatinous goo that can either trap predators or suffocate them by clogging their gills.
4:03 EURASIAN ROLLER BIRDS VOMIT ON THEMSELVES
The rollers are Old World birds, but they have been known to travel from Europe to the southern parts of Africa, with some being spotted in Zimbabwe. With all the time it spends away from its nest, the young of a roller bird need an effective defense mechanism to protect themselves from predators.
4:43 GROUP OF BUFFALOS
When a group of hungry lions encounters a buffalo and her young away from their herd, the opportunity for a quick lunch was too much to pass up. In this harrowing footage shot in Tanzania, the lions circle the buffalo, repeatedly charging the calf while the brave mom races back and forth to drive them off. But with three against two, that’s a difficult feat for the buffalo.
5:51 QUICK REACTION
Many animals that rely on speed also have excellent vision or hearing, so they can detect predators before they get very close. Here is an example of brave deer how she saves her life by a quick reaction.
6:43 KILLER BEES
Their name alone should be enough to put off any potential predators but if anything does decide to take on a swarm of these killer bees then they have an efficient way of making things regret it!
7:26 OPOSSUM
Another of nature's famous defense strategies is one that works particularly well. The opossum is not the most threatening of mammals so it is naturally more in danger from predation.
8:04 POISON DART FROGS
Poisons are somewhat similar to venoms, as they are also chemicals that are stored in special glands inside an animal’s body. But unlike venoms, poisons are not injected into an attacker. Instead, poisons are usually allowed to ooze out of an animal’s skin.
