All Access Comedy (with ASL & Audio Description)

All Access Comedy is a stand-up special like no other, with comedians from the disability community coming together to celebrate their unique outlook on life for a packed audience of all abilities delivered in a venue with technology making it inclusive for all.

Hosted by D.J. Demers, this one-hour special features performances by Courtney Gilmour, Tanyalee Davis, Ahren Belisle and Ryan Lachance.

Filmed on Sunday April 30th, 2023, at the Spatz Theatre as part of the Halifax Comedy Fest, this free event featured live ASL Interpretation, CART real-time captioning technology, increased wheelchair accessible seating capacity & Integrated Described Video.

Diagnosed with hearing loss in childhood, DJ’s clever stand-up is both personal and universal, largely but not exclusively on his experiences as a person who wears hearing aids.

Courtney Gilmour is a JUNO nominated standup comedian and television writer. She is one of Canada's most unique voices and sought after comedy talents, named by NOW Magazine as “one of the top 10 stage artists to watch”, having written for and made appearances on The Beaverton, CBC’s The Debaters and Roast Battle Canada.

Courtney’s warm, accessible, and intelligent brand of standup has made her a hit with audiences nationwide.

Professional stand-up comedian from White Rock, British Columbia, who is a hilarious storyteller and seasoned performer with over 25 years of stage experience. Incorporating his unique perspective as a comic living with quad-spastic cerebral palsy, Ryan interweaves the everyday joys and serious challenges he has faced while masterfully spinning it all into hilariously entertaining, totally unique and memorable performance.

Tanyalee Davis is a 3 foot 6 inch standup comedian who inspires, enlightens, and entertains her audiences while headlining at comedy clubs, colleges, and comedy festivals throughout North America, the UK, and other parts of the world with her own unique perspective and somewhat racy brand of comedy.

Ahren Belisle is a software engineer and mental health advocate turned comedian. Born in Northern Ontario with cerebral palsy, Ahren is a mute comedian who uses his phone to deliver jokes. Ahren has been amassing hundreds of thousands of followers on social media, was recently featured on America's Got Talent, the Joe Rogan Podcast and was awarded the highly-coveted “Golden Ticket” from Kill Tony.
