Pessinus Archaeological Site, Eskişehir | Turkish Museums

According to ancient texts, Pessinus was established by Phrygian King Midas in the 8th century for the Anatolian mother goddess Cybele (or Kibele). However, archaeologists have used carbon dating on artifacts found at the archaeological site to confirm that the city was settled as far back as 2000 BC. Today, you can see structures from the Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine eras.
