AIR / SONiVOX / Softube VST plugins results in Windows10 BSOD Tpkd.sys (Including fix)

Several AIR / SONiVOX / Softube / Mixmeister plugins setups are bundled with an old iLok installer. This may result in a BSOD (blue screen of death) message Tpkd.sys on an up to date Windows installation during startup.

Notes:
The video uses "D:\Windows\System32\drivers" as example in the recovery console, but may be located on a different drive letter. In this case the message "System cannot find the path specified" is shown.
Please try a different driver letter by replacing "D:\" with "C:\" or "E:\" etc.

When the Windows recovery console cannot be started, it is recommended to boot from a bootable Linux media such as Ubuntu live CD / USB stick and remove the Tpkd.sys manually.

Another option is to move the SSD or HD to another computer and remove Tpkd.sys manually.

Always install the latest iLok BEFORE installing the old libraries/applications again. Then the broken iLok installation will be skipped and avoids blue screens again.

Tpkd.sys BSOD's are already reported since June 2020 and is still a serious problem for many users as several VST manufactures did not update their software.

iLok strongly advises to avoid bundling the iLok driver with the VST setup, but several VST manufactures ignored this. BSOD's are not acceptable!
