This is a flame detector tube and it is smarter than you might think. It is certainly a lot more sensitive and faster responding than we ever imagined. We are performing a series of experiments to figure out how this works, why it works and what other applications it has. Surprisingly, this is not some old vacuum tube, this is a modern device used in products that can be bought today.
