Ivana says, "Sleep is originally a choral piece. In my arrangement I tried to get the 8 voices setting into my 4 mallets. The acoustics of a church might have been easier to play in... Nevertheless, caught between the beautiful wooden setting of the Manifold studio and the masterfully crafted rosewood displayed before me, I was plunging in waves of vibrating air. The sound was almost palpable. I used three IB5 mallets and one IB6 mallet which I switched as mallet 3 or 4 depending on the voices I wanted to bring out, or on the specific color that I wanted to give to a chord. This is a technique I often use: I flip mallets in my hand during the piece."
