In this lecture, we have covered the evolution of the ecosystem services concept, tracing its history from early functional definitions to the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment. We have also clarified the distinctions between ecosystem processes, functions, and services, using wetland ecosystems as an illustrative example to understand the flow of these benefits.
