Ben's Chili Bowl in DC is perhaps the most famous restaurant in Washington, DC. It may also be the most famous hot dog restaurant there, and thus potentially one of the best hot dogs in America! At least based on reputation. The restaurant has been a staple in the African American community for several decades, so much so that pretty much any African American notable person, from athletes to politicians to journalists to anyone, has visited Ben's Chili Bowl. Even Barack Obama has been! Yes the Obama Ben's Chili Bowl visit is well-known.

But while Ben's Chili Bowl is very famous, how good is it? Is Ben's Chili Bowl good or is Ben's Chili Bowl overrated and a tourist trap? We will see if Ben's Chili Bowl is a tourist trap when we visit this DC staple. We will try many items from the Ben's Chili Bowl menu, mostly their hot dog and sausage selections. The Ben's Chili Bowl half-smoke sausages are particularly well-known. We will try both of the Ben's Chili Bowl half-smokes, the original flavor and the spicy flavor, and see how they compare.
