Babes in Toyland - Selection | Arr. Hoschna | Victor Herbert 1903 | Player piano roll

Commemorating the 112nd anniversary of "Babes in Toyland," which was premiered at the Majestic Threatre (Columbus Circle) in New York, on October 13, 1903 for 192 performances.

Babes in Toyland is Herbert's most famous and remembered musical, having many adaptations and Christmas movies, and "March of the Toys" from the musical is also widely played by bands today.

There is a great mystery, as almost every piano roll of Toyland selections I've came across is credited as arranged by Karl L. Hoschna (another great Broadway composer), which sheet music doex exists, however the song orders are completely different, and the main song "Toyland" is completely removed. Perhaps this was the first edition of the piano selection? Since all of the rolls have "Military Ball" ending part, it either means it was a different real piano selection or a brand made that up, and everyone else copied, which doesn't make much sense. Orchestra version by Otto Langey and brass band version by Herbert Clarke are also based off the real selection by Hoschna, not the piano rolls.
