वीरांगना का अर्थ है एक बहादुर महिला, यह शब्द "वीर" से बना है, जिसका अर्थ है बहादुर व्यक्ति, और "अंगना" का अर्थ है महिला। "वीरांगना" शब्द का इस्तेमाल अक्सर उन प्रतिष्ठित योद्धा रानीओं के लिए किया जाता है, जो अदम्य साहस, दृढ़ता से मुश्किल परिस्थितियों में भी अपने कर्तव्यों का पालन करती हैं।

Description:- Gondwana Kingdom, a significant part of Indian History, encompassed a vast region in Central India, Madhya Pradesh, extending into Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and parts of other states. Known for its rich Gond Tribal Culture, the Kingdom was divided into four major states: Garha-Mandla, Deogarh, Chanda, and Kherla.

The most notable King of Garha-Katanga (Garha-Mandla), King Sangram Shah, the 48th Greatest Ruler of the Gond Dynasty, ruled the Gondwana Region Of Central India. King Sangram Shah expanded the Gond Kingdom and conquered 52 Forts, the significant assets in the development of the Gondwana Dynasty, that served the purpose of war and security. 

Durgavati was born in 1524, She was princess of Mohaba King Keerat Rai, descendant of the Chandela Dynasty, she got married (1542) to Prince Dalpat Shah, Son of Sangram Shah, King of Garha-Katanga, Gondwana Kingdom.

King Dalpat Shah was the 49th ruler of the Garha Kingdom, which controlled the Central Indian Region Of Gondwana. His reign was short, he died in 1550, leaving the kingdom in the hands of रानी Durgavati. She was a skilled archer and hunter, trained in warfare from a very young age.

Regency:- After the untimely death of Raja Dalpat Shah in 1550, Rani Durgavati took over the reins of the Gond Empire as the guardian of the minor king (son Vir Narayan) till 1564. Rani Durgavati became the regent of the Kingdom, She was a brave warrior queen, ruled the Gond Kingdom from 1550 untill 1564.

Rani Durgavati administered /controlled the kingdom very well, consolidated the boundaries of her kingdom & brought it to such high levels of prosperity that people paid taxes in gold coins and elephants. Rani constructed reservoirs such as the Ranital, Cherital & Adhartal for the benefit of the people; So also, She was a patron of learning, allowed Acharya Bitthalnath to establish a seat of the Pushtimarg Cult at Garha (गढ़ में).
रानी दुर्गावती ने, अपनी दूरदर्शिता, कुशल नेतृत्व, शोर्य और अदम्य साहस के साथ दुश्मनों से लड़ाई करके, गोंडवाना राज्य का विस्तार किया और गौरवशाली साम्राज्य बनाया, उन्होंने 1550 से 1564 तक, अपने पुत्र वीर नारायण के अल्पवयस्क होने के दौरान गोंडवाना की "रीजेंट" के रूप में कार्य किया। रानी ने वीर नारायण को गद्दी पर बिठाया और स्वयं शासन की बागडोर संभाली। रानी ने स्वयं अपनी सेना का नेतृत्व किया।

Last Battle:- In the course of battle with Mughal Army, She fought valiantly with her soldiers,despite being outnumbered. युद्ध के दौरान, She got injured badly near her ear with an arrow, another arrow pierced her neck, she perceived that defeat was imminent. Her mahout advised her to leave the battlefield but she refused and took out her dagger and killed herself on 24 June 1564.
रानी दुर्गावती ने स्वयं ही अपने पर वार कर वीरगति को प्राप्त करने का निर्णय लिया। 24 जून 1564 को एक वीरांगना ने अपने प्राण न्योछावर कर सम्पूर्ण भारत को संदेश दिया, कि शत्रु के साथ लढ़ते-लढ़ते वीरगति प्राप्त करना स्वीकार है, पर शरणागति कभी भी नहीं हो सकती। रानी Durgavati's story is commemorated annually on June 24th, as martyrdom day. उनकी शहादत दिवस (24 जून 1564) को "बलिदान दिवस" के रूप में मनाया जाता है।

Veerangna Rani Durgavati is known for her intelligence, bravery and leadership, ruled the Kingdom with justice, strength and also is remembered for her unique willpower for strong resistance against the Mughal Empire's Expansion. 
रानी दुर्गावती तेजस्वी, बहादुर होने के साथ-साथ उन्हें "साहस और प्रतिरोध के प्रतीक" के रूप में याद किया जाता है।

Gondwana's Decline:- Due to various factors including internal strife, external pressures, and the emergence of larger, more powerful states. Maratha Power, which swept through the Gondi Regions in the 1740s, incorporated territories of Gondwana. After centuries of Muslim /Maratha / British Cultural Assimilation & Social Inequalities further contributed to the decline of Gondian Way Of Life.
