This webinar, Implementation of Evidence-Based Neurorehabilitation Strategies & Techniques - from the Hospital to the Home Setting was held on Wed, 1 Sept 2021.
Building on webinar 1, we discuss 3 vignettes on implementing a neurorehabilitation intervention and/or service in 3 different contexts: public hospital, paediatric population and private clinic. This webinar explores how to use implementation research methods to develop, implement and evaluate interventions within a neurorehabilitation setting.
WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES:
1. Apply knowledge on evidence-based neurorehabilitation to address patient / population needs.
2. Strategies to engage consumers in high intensity practice.
3. Matching patients with neurorehabilitation interventions.
4. Explore how implementation research can inform sustainable practice change.
5. Understand how to use data to support a business case for neurorehabilitation.
WHO IS THIS APPLICABLE FOR:
Therapists interested and working in neurorehabilitation in hospitals, clinics and working with NDIS participants in the home.
MEET THE SPEAKERS:
HANNAH NEVE
• MSc Physiotherapy
• Senior Neurological Physiotherapist and Supervisor
• Advance Rehab Centre
Hannah Neve is the Senior Neurological Physiotherapist and Supervisor at Advance Rehab Centre. Hannah graduated with a Masters degree in Physiotherapy from The Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland in 2013. She spent the next 3 years gaining valuable experience as a rotational physiotherapist within the NHS acquiring a broad range of knowledge in several different specialties and developed a strong interest in neurological physio.
Hannah made the move to Australia in 2017 and joined the ARC team in early 2019. She is passionate about assessing and analysing movement and has a key interest in gait and balance re-education enjoying the challenge of incorporating the use of technology and robotics. Hannah has a special interest in brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation and enjoys helping clients to regain, strength and movement to optimise function and the gain the best outcomes for her clients.
JENNY WU

DR MARLENA KLAIC
• PhD Monash, MClinRehab, BOccTher(Hons)
• Allied Health Research and Translation Leader, The Royal Melbourne Hospital
• Postdoctoral Research Fellow, University of Melbourne
Marlena Klaic is an occupational therapist and researcher at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. She has more than 20 years of clinical experience working within the neurosciences field in all contexts including acute hospital, rehabilitation and home-based services.
In the last 10 years, Marlena has focused on health services research with a particular interest in the use of technology. She was a member of the team who established the first publicly funded technology driven upper limb rehabilitation service. Marlena prospectively identified barriers and enablers to the use of technology in clinical practice and developed a tailored approach to the training, resources and implementation of the clinic, which continues to function six years later.
Marlena is also a postdoctoral research fellow in implementation science. Her research focuses on assisting individuals, teams and organisations to develop innovations and interventions that can sustainably be used to address evidence-practice gaps.
