A Day in the Black Forest: Waterfalls, Gorges & Lakes 🌲✨

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, we set out on a scenic drive through the legendary Black Forest region of Germany — a place that feels straight out of a storybook.

Our first stop was the charming town of Triberg, home to the famous Triberg Waterfalls, the highest in Germany. The sound of rushing water echoed through the forest as we followed the trail up through lush green pines. Before exploring, we enjoyed lunch at a cozy restaurant-hotel near the waterfall entrance, where we couldn’t resist trying the region’s iconic dessert — a slice of rich, creamy Black Forest cake made with layers of chocolate sponge, cherries, and whipped cream. It was every bit as delicious as its reputation suggests!

From Triberg, we continued a short 40-minute drive to the Ravenna Gorge (Ravennaschlucht). This beautiful valley is especially famous for its Christmas market, held beneath a towering stone railway viaduct — one of the most magical holiday settings in Germany. Even without the market, the gorge itself is stunning, with its tranquil stream and wooden bridges weaving through the forest.

Next, just 10 minutes down the road, we arrived at Titisee Lake (Titisee-Neustadt) — a postcard-perfect lake town surrounded by evergreen hills. The promenade is lined with charming shops, cafés, and restaurants offering lakeside views. Visitors can rent paddleboats, swim at the beach, or simply relax and enjoy the alpine scenery.

Our afternoon in the Black Forest was filled with peaceful nature, delicious food, and beautiful views — a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. Whether you come for the waterfalls, the cake, or the charm, the Black Forest truly lives up to its name as one of Germany’s most enchanting destinations. 🌲❤️
