Last night we reached Tanjavur and then went out for Dinner and after the wedding returned to our Hotel and rested for the night.
Today Morning we have got ready and now we are heading towards the World Famous Big Temple of Tanjavur
This Big temple of Tanjavur is also Know as the Brihadeshwar Temple this is the tallest temple of South India and also know as DakshinMeru
Friends for us visiting this temple was a dream come true as we friends were planning for this for past many years but due to some reasons everytime we would end up not being able to come to Tanjavur
At last we made it today and have finally entered the Most awaited Temples of our journey
This temple is a masterpiece of Architecture sculpture engineering art and craftsmanship
At the entrance of this temple you can find the Maratha Entrance Gates it's named after the Glorious Kings Of the Maratha Dynasty that once Conquered this region and rueld it for decades as of date the Royal Family Of Tanjavur The Bhosale Family are the part of Shree Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Family oF Maharashtra.
Coming back to the temple.. friends once you cross the Maratha Entrance Gate you jump into another masterpiece of Architecture and a second gate here in the left side one can find the Map Of The Temple so one can understand how to visit this temple in proper manner to understand it's legacy
This temple becomes 1014 years of age this year as it crossed it's 1000th year in 2010
Just thinking of its age and one can have goosebumps for sure
This temple is witness to Great Kings their Empires To Barbaric Invaders To Great Fighters also it has withstand to The Worst situations in Natural Calamities and Natural Disasters like Sunamis to Cyclones To earthquakes
And Still Today This Marvelous Piece Of Engineering Stand Firm and High holding its Feet Tightly to the Ground
I really feel Blessed today to come to this Marvelous Temple and witness it's Glory
Friends after visiting the Temple we moved on to The Royal Palace of Tanjavur
The Royal Family Of Tanjavur resides here even Today and the This Palace is The second most visited place of Tanjavur
Here once can find the beautiful architecture and engineering works carried out to built this Palace
This palace is now partly converted into. museum where we can find great collections of the royal family and it members since decades
these things include beautiful paintings to very rare literature dating back to several hundred years back
here one can find a very large skeleton of a big whale that's preserved on the top of the palace
Alongwith this we can also find the Darbar Hall which means the Courtyard of the Palace where once the King of Tanjavur used to take decisions related to law and order of his kingdom to decisions welfare of his people and so many other big meeting have happened in this palace
Friends as were finished our visit to the Palace we headed towards our hotel as we had to pack up our baggage and we were now leaving for Rameshwaram
