Roblox Accountable For Creating A Breeding Ground For Predators

Online gaming platform Roblox is facing another child sexploitation lawsuit that claims a five-year-old girl from Outagamie County was targeted by predators. In the complaint, the Wisconsin mother alleges the gaming corporation based out of California is accountable for creating a breeding ground for predators. The mother says her young daughter encountered adult males in the game pretending to be her age, and they began grooming her. After gaining her trust, the predators began sending her sexually explicit photos and messages, manipulating the child into reciprocating with her own graphic images. The lawsuit alleges through misrepresentations of safety, the gaming app installs a sense of safety when, in reality, the design makes children easy prey for pedophiles.

If you ask any parent if it's possible to keep their kid, you know, 24/7, they would say that it is impossible to do that. It's really on the responsibility of Roblox, who does hold out that this is a safe community for kids, to make sure that that's actually the case, which we've seen is not.

Roblox issued a statement in response to the new lawsuit, saying in part, quote, We are deeply troubled by any incident that endangers our users. While we cannot comment on claims raised in litigation, Roblox's vision is to be the safest place on the Internet, which is why our policies are purposely stricter than those found on many other platforms, end quote.
